Why anonymous
Naming individual funders and amounts creates exactly the kind of leverage independence is meant to prevent — a visible list of who to please. Keeping the ledger anonymous removes that incentive without removing the commitment: funding a dataset, a paper, or a tool still doesn't buy influence over its findings.
